ODTÜ TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER OFFICE

ODTÜ Technology Transfer Office was established at ODTU Technopolis in 2007 to support ODTU academicians in terms of patent processes and create awareness on intellectual property rights within the university.

ODTÜ TTO which is supported within the scope of "TÜBİTAK 1513-Technology Transfer Offices Support Program", ensures the protection and commercialization of scientific research results at the university with registration applications, the collaborations between university and industry, and contract supports for intellectual property rights (IPR).

ODTÜ TTO, has been working as a unit within ODTÜ Technopolis Administration Inc. since 2007.

Since it was established, ODTÜ TTO has provided patent support to more than 150 inventions,

has implemented different strategies to develop more than 30 inventions in collaboration with national and / or international firms, has developed a lot of different projects with correct matching in terms of university-industry collaboration.

The first call of “TÜBİTAK 1513 - Technology Transfer Offices Support Program” was launched in 2013. ODTÜ applied to this call through ODTÜ-Technopolis and was among the top 10 universities that received 1513 support.

The aim of the “TÜBİTAK 1513 Technology Transfer Offices Support Program” is to provide that the information sources at the university can be converted into sustainable value or to ensure that the existing processes in this direction can become more effective.

Today, the knowledge and science rapidly become valuable and they shape the world of the technology and industry. Therefore, ODTÜ TTO has conducted its studies to preserve the scientific potential at ODTÜ within the scope of various registration models, to convert this scientific potential to an economic value by transferring them to the companies inside and outside ODTU Technopolis, and to develop different technologies according to the needs of the industry.

ODTÜ TTO supports only research results at ODTÜ and the inventions of the companies at  ODTU Technopolis which are accepted within the scope of the related program.  It does not provide any support for patent / design application or commercialization to inventions from other universities or technoparks.

Within the scope of the Law No. 6769; ODTÜ TTO also supports ODTÜ students for their inventions developed with ODTÜ infrastructure under various headings such as patent / trademark application, commercialization, etc.

Direct or indirect support is provided for the recognition of ODTÜ TTO inside and outside the country through informative events organized within the university and technopolis, national and international workshops, expositions, conferences, meetings, trainings, project markets, collaborations with industry, committee invitations and committee visits.

METU TTO can communicate with various national or international public institutions and organizations, small or large companies, individual investors or financial institutions, research and training institutions and technocities while conducting its activities

For different reasons such as idea and evaluation support, the investment support, joint project development, the event organization etc., ODTÜ TTO associates with stakeholders and they acts together for a common purpose.
